A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SATCOM BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL

As a SATCOM Business Development Professional, you build on your history of achieving aggressive sales goals to effectively prospect for leads, identify opportunities, present proposals, and close sales with both new and established customers in the government contracting and commercial sectors. You assist our VP of SATCOM with forecasting in order to expand business in the commercial and USG business verticals. In order to achieve sales goals, you generate your own pipeline and manage prospects through the entire sales process. Your familiarity with industry-recognized service providers is important to your success.

Once you have established a rapport with a prospect, you present them with an engaging proposal. Using a consultative sales approach and your strong technical background in VSAT 21M, you continue to build relationships and close deals. You also help nurture and maintain relationships with our current clients and partners. By upgrading them to our newest technology advances in our Limited Motion Control Upgrade (LMCU), you set existing customers' legacy systems up with continued functionality for years to come. With attention to detail, you document your activities in our customer database.

You also put together reports and presentations as requested. One way you prospect is by exhibiting at targeted IT, telecommunications, and market-specific tradeshows and conferences. As needed, you travel to other TSS offices, conferences, or customer sites both within and outside the continental United States. Seeing your efforts pay off in your paycheck gives you a great sense of accomplishment. And, you also feel good about playing an important role in our continued success supporting those who protect national interests and preserve freedom around the world!

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SATCOM BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL

  • 10 years of satellite communications market technical sales experience
  • Experience in technology for large-, multi-, and single-band earth stations
  • Strong familiarity with satellite, terrestrial, and wireless networks and applications
  • Familiarity with the government contracting process
  • Ability to travel at least 20% of the time
  • Ability to present, sell, and close sales at the C-level
